Jan. 9, 2026 is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Let's join Interim Superintendent Motal as he connects with one of the LHISD police departments finest, Officer Rick Reza!
This month we highlight Determined Problem Solvers — people who face challenges head-on and keep pushing forward.
You might think of a LHISD staff member who:
Tackled a process that wasn’t working and improved it for everyone
Helped troubleshoot an issue to avoid a bigger problem down the line
Found a solution instead of getting stuck in the frustration
(And yes, you can nominate someone for any LEADS trait at any time!)
The LHISD Gifted and Talented (GT) program referral window is now open. OurGTprogram is designed to support gifted students who demonstrate an exceptional ability in academic or divergent thinking. If you believe your student may be a candidate for this program, you may complete the referral form by clicking HERE. Testing will begin in February and continue throughout the spring semester. The referral window will remain open through Jan. 30, 2026 at 3 p.m.

No final decisions have been made. We are currently in the community feedback phase, gathering input through this video, town hall meetings, and the Attendance Boundary Advisory Committee. All feedback will be reviewed before a final recommendation is presented to the Board of Trustees on Feb.16.
